BOLDFISH FAQ

Most popular questions:

Does BOLDFISH cost money?

You can download and use BOLDFISH for free for your Android device. You have the option to unlock premium features by purchasing tokens via in-app purchases

Why am I required to allow BOLDFISH to set up a VPN configuration?

BOLDFISH uses a virtual private network (VPN) to block specific apps on your phone. You are unable to use our app properly if you do not allow for our configuration to be set up on your phone. We ensure your data and phone usage is safe and secure. Feel free to read our full Privacy Policy for more information.

What are premium features?

To get access to premium features, you will need to purchase tokens through the BOLDFISH app via an in-app purchase. The price of tokens vary based on the package you select. There are currently two types of premium features:

  1. Customizing which platform(s) to block. Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter are all blocked by default. You are unable to pick and choose which platforms you would like to block unless you unlock the toggling feature. Each social media platform costs two tokens to unlock.
  2. Adding a custom URL to block. While BOLDFISH currently focuses on blocking the four main social media platforms, you also have to option to add a custom URL you visit via your mobile web browser (e.g. Chrome). It costs three tokens to add a custom URL and you will be able to toggle the block on or off.

BOLDFISH Plus FAQ

Most popular questions:

Why do I need to write down a reason when turning off a block?

We want to encourage users to use their phone with purpose. Thus, we ask that you write down your intention behind turning off a block. This is for you to be aware and understand why you are breaking your profile’s purpose.

From the menu bar, you are able to access a log of your reasons to look back on.

When selecting apps to be blocked, why are some apps missing?

Depending on the manufacturer of your device, stock apps or preloaded apps on a phone cannot be blocked and therefore, will not show up as an option. Those apps are typically ones you are unable to delete from your device.

Other than that, any apps you have downloaded on your device should show up on the list.

Why am I required to allow BOLDFISH Plus to set up Usage Access?

BOLDFISH Plus requires you to grant Usage Data Access permission in order to block select apps on your phone. We only ask to access the apps listed on the block list. We will not store any information of the accessed apps.
